World’s largest blasting robot
The design team at Blastman Robotics was asked to automate the blast cleaning process for offshore components over 48 m long, 20 m wide and 15 m high. The result was the world’s largest blasting robot with 10 m long telescopes. The company will exhibit its blasting solutions at PaintExpo 2024.
Due to the limited space, the production and testing of the robot required a special effort. For this purpose, both the hall roof and the floor were opened for the factory acceptance test in order to install the robot including the control cabin through the hall roof and to be able to extend the two telescopes far into the ground.
Blasting robot with ATEX permission
The robotic system also includes a lifting platform that can be connected to the 10-meter telescope. The system has been developed in accordance with ATEX regulations, so that the lift can also be used for coating processes.
Blastman Robotics will be showcasing the little brother of this innovative blasting robot at PaintExpo – including the intuitive offline programming software „Blastman STUDIO“ as well as the latest control systems that enable connection to production control systems and the control of various Smart Blast Room functions. As a result, the blasting robots can be easily implemented even in existing systems and not only carry out blasting faster and with higher quality, but also safer and more cost-effectively.
