New robotic solution for paint shops
ITS recently presented its own solution in the field of industrial robotics – promising significant efficency gains for paint shop applications.
The new ‘ArtiCoating’ system is a robot-controlled solution for increasing the efficiency and flexibility of painting processes. The system can be used in both small and large paint shops and is compatible with paint booths from all manufacturers. It is independent of the operating mode and is therefore suitable for both manual and automated processes. The painting robot makes it easy to switch between robotic and manual painting, increasing the flexibility of production lines and enabling quick adaptation to different product types and modes.
Thanks to the implementation of the so-called seventh axis even in the basic version, the robot offers exceptional flexibility of movement and the ability to paint even complex-shaped parts and geometries without restrictions, according to the manufacturer. For example, it can not only handle ‘deep bends’ and reach the lowest positions close to the floor, but can also apply paint to surfaces from above that are inaccessible to the painter.
Robot painting without prior knowledge
The movement range of the robot covers a movement path – including the spray gun – of 3000 mm and can therefore cope with most drive-through profiles of paint booths. The robot system can be easily integrated into existing painting systems without the need to interfere with their control system, so that the warranty remains fully intact. This means that installation can be completed within a week, including operator training.
The system is designed to be easy to operate and understand, even for operators with no prior knowledge of robotics. Programming and trajectory planning, i.e. the adjustment and trajectories of the robot’s painting paths, are intuitive. Programmes are stored in a database, the number of which is practically unlimited. The programmes can also be searched using a full-text search. Compared to many large robots currently in use, ITS now offers a smaller solution that is ideal for integration into existing spaces.
ATEX-certified
The robot body is made entirely of metal, including the covers, and is designed for permanent industrial use. The system is also certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX), which ensures the highest possible safety standard in accordance with legislation.
Summary: According to the company, the new robot solution from ITS can significantly increase efficiency and flexibility in paint shops. It can be easily integrated into existing systems, is independent of booth type and operating mode and enables a quick changeover between manual and automated coating. Thanks to the integrated seventh axis, the robot can even reach component areas that are difficult to access. The intuitive operation, short installation time and suitability for potentially explosive atmospheres make the system compatible with a wide range of production environments.
