New cleaning station reduces solvent usage

The Italian company Lesta introduced the “Cleaning Station RS”, a new spray gun cleaning station with solvent recirculation, designed to boost efficiency, sustainability, and cleaning performances.

As an evolution of the original Lesta cleaning station, the RS version significantly improves the effectiveness of nozzle cleaning, reduces solvent waste, and streamlines the process in automated painting systems — whether equipped with Lesta robots or not. The Cleaning station is engineered to automate the cleaning of liquid coating spray guns. Built from self-supporting stainless-steel, it features an upper tank with a rotating brush powered by a pneumatic motor.

During the painting cycle, the robot automatically moves to the station after a predefined number of applications. At that point, a magnetic valve activates the brush motor, which — immersed in solvent — removes paint residues from the spray gun nozzle. The system also comprises of a modular brush with customisable number of sections and is available in two standard heights or in a mobile version with pneumatic piston. It is compatible with systems using Lesta robots as well as automated systems of other manufacturers.

Solvent reused

The new cleaning station features an innovative solvent recirculation system. The solvent in the tank is redirected and conveyed through a nozzle above the brush, creating a continuous flow that improves cleaning effectiveness, extends the solvent life spa and minimises manual maintenance. This upgrade makes the RS version even more effective in production environments where uptime and process efficiency are critical.

The new cleaning station is particularly interesting for companies that use automated systems with manual or robotic spray guns, manufacturers of metal furniture, appliances, automotive, or agricultural-industrial equipment as well businesses looking for a solution to maintain spray gun performance and improve surface finish quality.
