The facility in Münster is intended to expand capacity for the production of paints for the automotive industry and increase supply security. The new plant is part of the strategy to expand production capacity in the automotive coatings sector and promote the development of sustainable technologies. The use of modern equipment and processes is intended to further improve the quality of the coatings and reduce environmental impact.

With the commissioning of the plant, BASF is responding to the growing demand for innovative coating solutions in the automotive industry. The aim is to serve customers even more flexibly and efficiently. At the same time, the company has opened a so-called Lean Lab at its Würzburg site. This focuses on the development and production of water-based basecoats for customers in the European automotive industry.

The strategy is based on clear specialisation: wet work is carried out in the process laboratory, while the product laboratory focuses on intensive customer support and continuous product optimisation, and the laboratory services organise the provision of raw materials and operating supplies. BASF Coatings is currently rolling out the concept in other laboratories worldwide.
